Week 02 (Day 04): Stefalotus

The Stefalotus, designed by Jose Meeusen, is another wreath, made from 16 modules. The beauty of the wreath is in the layered appearance, unfortunately it doesn’t show very well in a photo. The white rim is the lower layer and the overlapping triangles around the centre forms the upper layer. The back of the wreath actually shows the layers better. Folding the modules is pretty simple. Assembling them it slightly more complicated. About 5-6 modules [Continued..]

Week 02 (Day 02): 3D Rings

The next rings that I want to talk on are the 3D rings that have suddenly fascinated me! I tried a few of these rings and I loved how they came out! If you haven’t tried out 3D rings, you should give them a go. They really make lovely decorations! So here is the Mette’s Ring, the Sun Dial and the Square 3D Ring. Another 3D ring that I found out recently is the Eifel [Continued..]

Week 02 (Day 01): Rings and Wreaths

My next special week is here.. And this is one very ambitious week! Where I will be trying out rings and wreaths, mostly from Tomoko Fuse’s book ‘Origami Rings & Wreaths‘. I am not sure how successful I will be as it involves modular origami, but I will give it a good try. The first wreath I tried out is also one of the first ones described in ‘Origami Rings & Wreaths‘. The best part [Continued..]

Square 3D Ring

I have developed a sudden fascination for 3D rings! So I tried out a few of them starting with the IGO Model 104 Square 3D Ring, designed by Ilan Garibi. The ring is made from 8 modules and as per the creator, they were inspired by Mette Pederson. They are quite easy to make and I love the 3D appearance of the ring. Would make great Christmas wreaths Will try out Mette ring and a [Continued..]

Jitterbug Cuboctahedron

When 20 of Tung Ken Lam’s jitterbug modules are assembled together, a jitterbug icosidodecahedron is the result. This is also my Gravatar and I have previously written a post on this here. Assembling 8 of the same units results in a cuboctahedron. I used gift wrapper paper along with black paper. And the contrast looks very good.. Model Details: Model: Jitterbug Cuboctahedron Creator: Tung Ken Lam (creator of jitterbug units) Classification: Origami | Geometric Shapes [Continued..]
