Penguin Bookmark

This little penguin is a teaching model designed by Valerie Vann (She is best known for her magic rose cube).  And it does teach quite a few folds – crimps and sinks and double rabbit ear and close sinks. Crane Box

After a long, long time, I tried out another of Tomoko Fuse’s designs. This is one of her square boxes from her fabulous book, ‘Fabulous Origami Boxes‘. All the boxes are made up of multiple modules, this one requires 4 for the lid and another 4 for the base. Letter Holders

I tried out more of these letter holders today. I really love how these letter holders come out! They are quite versalite, can be used to hold letters, cards etc. And since they are hand made, using it as a gift card adds a personal touch. I have been trying out a few letter holders from Tomoko Fuse’s book ‘Home Decorating with Origami‘. They are quite simple to make and turn out to be very useful. There are 5 of these letter holders described in the book and the one in lavendar in the picture is the first of them. I really do not understand this passion that most origamists seem to have for folding birds and animals. Is it because it isn’t as repetitive as most modular or flower models? Is it because it is usually more difficult to fold a bird or an animal than other origami? I don’t know.
