About Me

Hi there! My name is Oren Green and I love paper! My earliest recollection of origami and paper folding is in my childhood days. I remember my mother had got me a couple of books on beginner origami, complete with paper cut into squares. I was too young I think, because I wasn’t able to fold a lot of those models. Studies took a priority though, so that was the end of my folding then.

More recently, my interest in origami was reignited about 5 years back while learning Japanese. But unfortunately, though I did start learning origami, my interest was soon put on the back burner. That is, till the Christmas of 2009 when my brother and sister-in-law presented my with one of Lew Roselle’s books on Origami Decoration. I was really caught up in making those decorations and slowly started trying out a whole lot of projects. Soon I started blogging about my projects. I have been blogging for more than 2 years now and am lovin’ every minute of it :)

What is covered in my blog:

  • Origami, of course! I work on origami projects and post pictures of my completed model. I also add any notes, links, tutorials, books and whatnot.
  • Paper Crafts. I love paper crafts too and post what I make. I also post tutorials of some of the crafts I work on. Check out the Tutorials section for them
  • Paper and Bead Jewellery. Paper Jewellery is very unique and surprisingly robust when used! Origami models are folded using tiny pieces of paper and turned into jewellery. Bead jewellery is, of course, made from beads and what ever little knick-knacks I manage to find.
  • Christianity. I am a believing and practising Christian. So I post little messages that help me grow as a Christian. I do include Christian humour as well :)

  5. Hey Pearlie,
wanted to mail you and could not somehow locate your mail id on the blog. Wanted to speak to you professionally. Where can I reach you?

  6. Love your blog, so many wonderful projects.

  7. Dear Pearlie:
I love your blog. The Header design looks great. Did you design it? Your new site looks much cleaner and inviting than your old one, although I like the Origamiaday name. What I like most about your site is how you show all your origami work with a picture, artist reference, tutorial and other details. It points one to so many additional resources if one wishes to learn more about origami art. I wish you all the success. I will visit your site often as my 8 year old son loves to make origami and I’ve bought 3 booklets of origami paper to make with him. One suggestion for you to consider is not to include links in the “Featured on…” other than the “Totally Tutorials.” The Craftgossip site just has too many advertisement. It does not add any credibility to you. Anyone who visit your site can tell how good an artist you are already!

Another question is about your migration from WordPress to your current one. I’m using WordPress now and thought it IS a self hosted blog based on my limited research on the internet.

    • Hi Karen,
You absolutely made my day with your sweet comments and useful suggestions :) I have been on cloud 9 ever since I read your remarks!
      Thank you so much!

  8. Hi. Good site! I read about your site in a local newspaper & reached there as I thought it may help me. Its really useful and interesting. I actually wish to made miniature of Burmese Pagoda from paper. However not able to understand how I do it. Hence surfing many sites on paper work and origami. Lets, see how successful i be.

    Thanks,

    Pritam

  9. Hi. Is there a website for the origami society of madras? How may one join? Thanks

    • Hi Vee,
      Thanks for your comments :)
For now, the Origami Society of Madras functions via a Facebook Group. If you are already on Facebook, you can just join the group and the request will be approved by the group admins. The group is quite active with various challenges and get-together and it is great to meet fellow origamists :) Hope this helps..
