August 31st is celebrated as Blog Day. This is a day dedicated to finding other bloggers from other areas of interest/country/language. Why was August 31st chosen? Because when it is written as 3108, it resembles the word “Blog”. Santa Page Marker

I know it is a bit early for an origami Santa Claus, but recently I have been trying out a few of David Petty’s origami models from his book “Origami 1-2-3“. An interesting book.. The origami gradually moves from simple to intermediate to complex models. The Santa Page Marker comes under the intermediate skill level. A few of my friends informed me that they had some trouble understanding my tutorial on making a bookmark. I guess this would be in step 9. If you have successfully completed till step 8, then fold those 2 triangles you see in step 8 backwards in half. Unfold it. If you check behind these triangles, you will a small pocket is formed there. Now, fold back these triangles into those pockets and you would [Continued..]

Pencil Pot

I had seen this origami quite some time back and had thought it was actually made by cutting and pasting. It does look like that, doesn’t it? So I was pleasantly surprised when I found the instructions on Marc Vigo’s website and realised that it is actually folded (no cuts, no glue). The pencil pot works best when using thick paper. Hydrangea

The Hydrangea, designed by Shuzo Fujimoto, is a tessellation design and a very pretty one at that! A tessellation is a collection of plane figures that fills a plane without any overlaps. A honeycomb is an excellent example of a tessellation. Origami tessellations are  made from a single piece of paper and are a combination of valley and mountain folds and can be very complex and intricate.
