A Remake - Little Turtle Kusudama

One of my favourite modular origami is Tomoko Fuse’s Little Turtle Kusudama. I had made them a couple of years back, using beautiful, vibrant paper. I had a workshop coming up and wanted to remake this model, since my previous kusudamas have been distributed long back! While previously, I had using paper that had colourful flowers on a white background, this time I wanted to go with a softer tone. And I quite like the [Continued..]

Chrysanthemum Icosahedron

The Chrysanthemum Icosahedron is yet another modular origami, made from 30 squares of paper. Modules are easy to make but they should be folded perfectly, since they would not fit together otherwise. There is a small solution in case the modules do not fit together. The corner of the white bit in the flap can be folded , so that it can slide into the pocket easily. But in that case, you will need to [Continued..]

Floral Origami Kusudama Ornament

After completing the Floral Kusudama last month, I tried out the cube version. This is made up of 12 units, is of course, easier to assemble than the kusudama and makes a great combination for an ornament! I like the addition of orange in the petals, though it did not go too well with the kusudama while assembling the ornament. Floral Kusudama

I have been trying out one of Tomoko Fuse’s designs from her book, ‘Floral Origami Globes‘. And it has taken me quite some time to complete it, five days to be precise! Not something that should be attempted if you wish to complete your origami quickly. The model is made from 60 rectangles, 30 for making the pyramid units and 30 for the bows that are seen in between those little pyramids. After making these, [Continued..]

Quick Kusudama

As kusudamas go, this is a very easy kusudama to make and one that beginner origamists would be delighted to do. Usually kusudamas imply a lot of folding, generally about 20 to 30 units, followed by assembling those units.. So lots of time and patience would be required. This kusudama, though, is made from just 6 squares of paper and should be over in less than an hour. The design is by Nina Ostrun. Any [Continued..]
